As we said - Welcome to our website! This site has been established by the Muffin household to share our activities and accomplishments as we share and enjoy this fabulous hobby of Model Railroading.

We have organized the site to share our progress building our layout and photographs of several items in our collection.  We also have pages dedicated to sharing resources that we have come to depend on as we have expanded our activities from collecting to operating O Gauge model trains.

In November 2007, we added the section of the website we call "The Train to Heaven." Here we cover our experiences when the Mr was diagnosed with colon cancer in June of 2005 and headed for the other side before being pulled back. Good thing, too - we had a layout to finish!

We hope you enjoy the site and come back often!

Mr. Muffin

Mr. Muffin is a native of Indianapolis and a life long resident, excusing a few relocations for employment opportunities from time to time. He is a graduate of Broad Ripple High School and holds both an engineering degree from Purdue University and an MBA from Indiana University.

As many in his generation, he worked a paper route, cut lawns and did odd jobs while growing up in Indianapolis and ended up with a few half dollars in his pocket from time to time. Much of it was spent at Ed Schock's Toy & Hobby in Broad Ripple Village on Indianapolis' north side. Early on, model cars and model airplanes were the customary fair and he could usually carry home on his bike about all he could afford.

As the years passed, he did odd jobs at Ed Schock's, was occasionally fed there for Saturday lunch, and then, at about 14 years of age, finally hired to work as a salesclerk. This gig lasted into college and he so enjoyed the hobbies, the customers - the whole industry really - that he has been engaged in discussing and collecting model kits and model railroading items ever since.

Mrs. Muffin, the smaller and healthier of the two, has been instrumental in encouraging and supporting Mr. Muffin's efforts in building and operating his first layout after over 40 years of collecting. This website is dedicated to her influence and their partnership - there wouldn't be a Mr. Muffin without the Mrs!

    Mr. Muffin:

A collector, turned operator, before Mrs. Muffin became a distributor.

Mrs. Muffin:

Mrs. Muffin says that she is NOT to be included in the Mr. Muffin's Trains website - especially not a picture. Mrs. Muffin is a native of Chicago and has lived all over Illinois in towns that end with vowels. She has lots of hobbies of her own including reading English literature, which I have learned is not the same as books just being written in English, the culinary arts and seeing that the Muffin household is properly festive for every holiday season. She is doing well in the land of "id." We love her, and yes - her eyes are that blue.
