Lionel's 2-6-6-6 Chesapeake and Ohio Allegheny Photo GalleryThis is Lionel's first model of an articulated engine. As a result, it has been wide sought. It was introduced with their Train Master Command Control system - TMCC. The engine was produced in two road names - the C&O which we have and the Virginian version. Generally, as these are special engines, they have recently sold for near $2000 a copy - certainly a special part of our collection. We use the Allegheny to pull both long drags of coal hoppers and occasionally pulls a long string of our C&O Heavyweight passenger cars. As this engine was offered a while ago, it doesn't have the speed control systems of today's engines. As a result, when we run it on one of our upper loops, with another train, we need to keep our eyes on her, as otherwise she's likely to run over the train ahead of her!
